Most rebuilt CV axles are A1 Cardone, no matter the name on the box (Autozone and Napa reman, for example)
Then there are new Chinese axles like Cardone Select, Empi, GSP, Surtrack
OEM axles are no longer available, and even if they were they command over $500 each! Most dealer axles now are A1 Cardones.
Raxles does not make them for my car, either.
So, what is your experience with CV axles/ Which are good and which to avoid.

I’ve had ok luck with Cardones and some Empis, but it’s very application specific. FEQs and OP Parts are shit, period. I won’t install anything but OEM axles in Subarus, Volkswagens, or Audis. It’s better to find, inspect, and service a good used factory axle from a salvage yard than it is to buy some cheap shit Chinese one for those cars. They almost always have worse problems than the originals did.

The ones with the best warranty.
Anything other than OEM is a crapshoot in my experience. I would probably get an OEM reman over new aftermarket, because they all have questionable boots, but at least you can trust OEM steel.

Really if somebody just takes the time to clean and repack them every few years they will last for decades. Most people don’t because it’s a pain and it used to be easy to get good new axles.

Many, many people I trust say it’s not worth it unless your manufacturer sells a repack kit. If you buy an aftermarket boot it's exactly the same as an aftermarket reman except one was done by an amateur

I’d always go with Napa’s new axle line. Cheap, and never had an issue with them. Forgot who makes them.

This, exactly.

Depends on if you trust yourself to do a better job than some guy in a sweat shop?

I put FEQs on my e30 and they went in great, have not really put many miles on them yet, but my indy mechanic said that is what they use and have been very happy with them.

It sucks, but if no Raxles for me, it has to be OEM. Literally every Chinese axle I’ve used I have replaced within a year. If I were in your spot I would probably go with the best NAPA offers, and save the warranty info.

Hmm, good to know. We almost never need to put axles in rwd cars, but our experiences with most aftermarket axles in the FWD applications I mentioned has been horrible. Vibration problems, noise, different and low quality boots so when the inevitably fail a stock part won’t fit, and incorrect lengths have all been common.

Autozone reman has a lifetime warranty. It’s a reboxed A1 Cardone.

Nice, no reason to do anything else then.
